The tools for analyzing surf performance are practically non-existent, and the analytical information needed to assist this task is unknown. This same problem exists for all nautical sliding sports. Furthermore, in the context of surf and other sliding sport contests, all judgments and scores are based on visual feedback and practical experience.
mOceanSense is the combination of motion analysis in the ocean and aquatic environment measured by sensors. In this way, our principal focus now is oriented to deliver the best live sports performance, evaluation and interpretation, throughout telemetry and interactive dashboards for broadcasting in nautical sports.
We utilize the latest technologies for motion tracking in our innovative fluid flow sensor, which revolutionizes sensor technology by allowing relativized ground reference measurements via the water medium. Our technology and methodology have been tested and proven in laboratory conditions and in real-world pilot tests. Our system is capable of acquiring 3D navigational data with scientific quality and precision, making it possible to analyze in statistical detail what really happens moment-to-moment within surf and other nautical sliding sports.
With our technology, the surf community will be able to watch a surfing broadcast and interact in real-time with performance analytics while sharing statistical comparisons.

The expectations for the sports analytics market is to grow from $ 123.7 m in 2016 to $ 616.7 m by 2021, at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 37.9%. With the arrival of live streams and events, substantial demand for new sports has entered the realm of broadcasters and media that can now apply their business models to a market previously out of reach for them.
The nautical Olympics sports represents a huge opportunity. In this context, the metrics for performance evaluation are essential to assist the improvement of training methodologies, coaching, judgments, equipment improvements, and much more. One of our advantages is the use of our fluid flow sensor, which allows inferring the real efforts performed during the activities.
All the competitors’ use inertial principles or GPS information to show simple metrics related to time x displacement relation. However, none uses other resources that allow relativizing ground reference information with the water displacement. This means that all measurements do not represent the real effort executed by the practitioners.

Our technology is in the process of being patented. Although recently created, mOceanSense is a project with years of R&D work, started in 2011 by the passion of its founders for surf and technology, not being limited to the surf market. In addition, we were recognized by the European Space Agency (ESA) for our innovation in relativized geo-referenced data.
In 2015, we did a successful pilot test in the giant waves of Nazaré and now, after a maturing phase, we are ready to evolve our system, but principally our business.
We are currently negotiating a funding proposal to finalize the mOceansense commercial system, patents, and trademark, and to optimize our visual identity and support growth marketing.
